The Lighthouse – Creative LUT

Here’s another creative LUT, this time inspired by The Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse was shot on black and white Kodak Double-X Film 5222, and used special filters made by Schneider Optics to give the film an orthochromatic look (wherein the black and white film is only sensitive to a very narrow band of the spectrum).

Like the Technicolor LUT, the look relies on removal and cross-talk of and between RGB channels. The red channel was stripped from the image, and the green and blue were combined to simulate the cyan filter used on the camera.

Here is a comparison between the LUT and a standard desaturation.
